Our Story

In the Fall of 2008, Carolina Scientific was born! Our founders wanted students to know about the exciting scientific research being done every day at UNC-Chapel Hill— STEM students, non-STEM students, everyone. Seventeen years later, our goals remain the same: to educate undergrads about the innovation achieved at UNC, and to convince our readers that research is important. We publish one magazine issue every semester, both in print and online. While our print issues exclusively feature Principal Investigators, our website serves as a place for us to share the stories of undergrad, graduate, and post-doc researchers as well. What does the day-to-day of an undergrad or graduate student researcher look like? How does research differ between disciplines?
